The past is a foreign country, they do things differently there

Everyday heroes. We honor God when we honor one another...

USS Mullinnix DD-944 - 1966 Vietnam Gunline

"When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red, and in the morning,
'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky,
but you cannot interpret the signs of the times."
Jesus Christ
Matthew 16:2-3

Beautiful bluebird, see how she flies
Looks like she's always goin' home
If heaven had a window where the sun came shinin' through
Like a beautiful bluebird, I'd come flyin' back to you

Go back to sea...if only for a short time...

I am standing upon the seashore, a ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” “Gone Where?” Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear the load of living freight to her destined port. Here diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says, “There, she is gone!”, there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, “Here she comes!” And that is dying.

                                        Henry Van Dyke

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
‘Til it's gone...

"Any man who may be asked in this century (1900s) what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: "I served in the United States Navy."

John F. Kennedy

All veterans deserve a parade - a chance for the nation to say thank you
We didn't do that for Vietnam Veterans

"Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they have ever made a difference in the world.
A veteran doesn't have that problem."
Ronald Reagan
