Stereo equipment in racks
Stereo equipment was strapped into empty racks for shipment home. In 1972 we loaded all the stereo equipment in the empty magazines for fear of the ship being too top-heavy to weather storms safely.

Joe recalls: "The time on the Mux was a coming of age time for me, fresh out of A school after boot camp and from a small farming community in northern Indiana, it was like living 20 yrs jammed into 2!"

"Helocopter gunships at night, firing near the beach, and you could see the red "tracers". Pretty wild, we had plywood panels you had to walk around when you went out on the deck because of the black out on the ship, so no smoking topside, etc. I imagine my experiences were about the same as the crews on the 1966 and 1972 gun line trips, just remember different things at different times."
