24 September, 1972 (enroute to Yokosuka, Japan) Dear Mom, Dad, Sue

If my writing is terrible its because were in the middle of another typhoon. This is about the 4th or 5th one we’ve been in. We pull into Yokosuka, Japan tomorrow (25 Sept) morning. We have to unload most of our ammo. That will take most of the day. Our schedule is as follows

29 September Depart Yokosuka
7 October Arrive Pearl Harbor
8 October Depart Pearl Harbor
14 October Arrive San Diego
16 October Depart San Diego

They think that will put us in Norfolk about 27 October. But they don’t know for sure. I bought a lot of clothes in Hong Kong. They were really cheap. I got a suede jacket for $58. It probably would be $150 in the States. It is getting pretty rough out, and you know how that makes you feel, so I’d better go to bed. Write Soon! Love, Frank
